Doug Browning
DOUG BROWNING, 89, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at his home. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Hawley Church of Christ, directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the Hawley Church of Christ.
Born August 13, 1934, in Sweetwater, Doug was the son of the late Russell and Clara (Stinnett) Browning. He was raised in Longworth and graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1952. Doug married Bobbie Kiker June 4, 1955 in Roby. He served in the United States Army January 1957 to December 1958. Doug worked for Dairy Maid in Sweetwater and the Texas Highway Department. He was a faithful member of the Hawley Church of Christ.
In 1964, Doug founded the first Hatahoe in Roby. He later expanded to Rotan, Sweetwater, Anson, Haskell and Hamlin. Doug later bought the Pontiac/GMC dealership in Anson in 1982 and expanded to Stamford. In 1987, opened Video Mania in Anson, Stamford, Hamlin and Haskell.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and a sister (Kathleen Rix).
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Bobbie Browning; two daughters, Pam Davis (and husband, Louis) and Elaine Ward (and husband, Jay); a son, Layne Browning; four grandchildren, Trussell Davis, Brandi Tschuor, Kamron Arce, and Jaxon Ward; eight great-grandchildren, Kullye Tschuor, Finnye Tschuor, Deklin Tschuor, Ava Davis, Lilah Davis, Magnolia Davis, Adalyn Arce and Axel Arce; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be given to the Military Warrior Support Foundation.
