Larry Bailey

Larry Bailey, Sr., 91, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in Abilene. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2023, at Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Cody Cochran officiating, directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home.

Born August 12, 1931, in Hebron, West Virginia, Larry was a son of the late Argia and Bertie Beatrice (Richmond) Bailey. Larry was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He married Marsha Scott December 30, 1967 Lawrence, Indiana. They moved to Anson in 1992. Larry worked for Mayflower moving company for 53 years. He held the Mayflower safe driver award for many years and was awarded the Driver of the Years by the America Truckers Association. He retired in 2010. Larry had a dry sense of humor and a nick name for everyone. He loved the Lord, his family and his country. He was a member of the Anson Church of Christ, the Anson Lions Club. Larry served on the Anson Chamber of Commerce where he was a board member for many years. He was named Anson’s Man of the Year in 2010.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha Bailey; four sons, Larry Bailey, Jr., Bruce Bailey, Cary Bailey and John Bailey; three daughters, Evelyn Bailey-Tuttle, Deena James and Jenny Bailey; one brother, Monty Bailey (and wife, Martha); numerous grandchildren including, Aaron James, Ashley Knapp, Amanda James, Donovan Bailey and Stormi Butler; numerous great-grandchildren including, Laila James, Zaylee Bernal, Payzlee Bernal, Easton Butler and George Bailey; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

A celebration gathering will follow at the Anson Church of Christ fellowship hall.
